About Pemberton
Just 30 minutes north of Whistler lies the stunning and natural scenery of Pemberton Valley, a green pocket of agricultural land widely known for its potatoes. Though farming is still a mainstay to the area, economic growth and real estate development have turned this town into what it is today – the Village of Pemberton – with its own Tourism Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, Visitor Centre, restaurants, accommodations, and airport. Pemberton’s quick access to hiking, mountain biking, and backcountry ski-touring are more reasons for its surge in popularity. Pemberton is a gateway to adventure – a portal to the rest of British Columbia.
Pemberton Lifestyle & Activities
Golf:
Pemberton is a golfer’s dream town. Home to Big Sky Golf Course, this world-class golf course is beautifully situated at the base of majestic Mount Currie.
Camping:
There are two provincial parks in the Pemberton region with well-organized campgrounds. Nairn Falls Provincial Park offers a large number of campsites along the Green River, and Birkenhead Provincial Park is somewhat more remote, an hour’s drive north of Mount Currie near D’Arcy.
Mountain Biking:
Pemberton is a mountain biker’s dream, with trails ranging from the gentle Sea to Sky Trail, to expert level downhill trails, built and maintained by the Pemberton Off-Road Cycling Association.Â
Road Cycling:
Pemberton also had great options for road cyclists, with Pemberton Meadows Road as our favourite. It’s a straight, flat 27-km ride through the valley of Pemberton, and on the return trip, the beautiful view of Mt. Currie will lead you home.Â
Hiking:
Tenquille Lake is one of the most popular hiking areas in the Pemberton Valley. The alpine trail system that links Tenquille and Owl Creek makes this region one of the best destinations for experienced hikers and mountain bikers.
Horseback Riding:
The many stables in the beautiful Pemberton Valley offer a variety of horseback riding on trails through beautiful mountain and valley scenery for riders of all levels.
